New Mini-Doc shot on the GH2 & 550d

Im in the Prepping stage for a 3 minute short Documentary about a Tattoo Artist (Christine Tobin) in Limerick city.

The piece is going to be something along the lines of the 3 minute wonders that channel 4 used to run. Basically its going to be a more arty style doc piece.
So because ive chosen to do it on a Tattoo Artist i want the main focus to be on the tattoos at first, the process of tattooing  and then the Artists voice.

Cameras & Lenses
Lumix GH2
Canon 550D
Lumix 20mm F1.7
Nikon 50mm F1.8
Nikon 18-200mm

The Gear:
My own custom rig (See my previous article here)

Kanova Slider

Pearstone tripod

2x 5500k soft boxes

3x 800w Red Heads

The idea is to have the artist heard as a voice over but never seen speaking to the camera head on. I’m going to use the gh2 with the 20mm framed with just the top of her lips in shot angled down onto her chest and arms, to reinforce what she is saying about the passion for her art.

Slow motion, Macro, Low light, time lapse, loads more!

The GH2 is hacked using the TerraQuake hack, I’ve set the 24L to 44mbs, so i can shoot loads of her day. All of the interview footage will be shot on 166mbs!!!

For the first time i’ll be editing the footage in Avid Media Composer 5.5, so I’ll be covering the problems if any that i encounter!

Stay Tuned!
